Janine,

Thanks for sending the message below about summer keypals
for children in L.E.A.P.

I will take this opportunity to introduce myself, also.
I am a program specialist at the Morino Institute in
Washington, DC. I am a former L.E.A.P.er and
heartily encourage folks to start an email partnership
with L.E.A.P. children and staff. The summer trips
L..E.A.P. children take are a fantastic learning
experience and catalyst for children's social and personal
development. In the past L.E.A.P. children
have emailed educators and children as far away
as Canada, in preparation for trips to Toronto and
Montreal.

Nina Ha's message about the National Teen
Action Research Center, which I see from the
Web site has done work in Connecticut, sounds
like a great opportunity for L.E.A.P. and others
to teach children and teens valuable experientally
based reasearch, communciation and social skills.

<p>Hi. My name is Janine and I work for LEAP (leadership, Education and
Athletics in Partnership). I run one of our 7 Computer Learning Centers.
LEAP is a non-profit organization that serves 7-14 year old children
living in high poverty, urban neighborhoods. The last week of July and
the first week of August, our children go on week long journeys to various
cities outside of Connecticut (where our program is based). I have 10
groups from Hartford that are interested in having conversations with
children via email from the cities in which they will be visiting this
summer. If you are interested, or if you know others that might be,
please pass this along. The ages, genders and the city they will visit is
listed below. I hope to get some resonses from folks. If anyone as
questions or concerns, I can be reached at (860) 548-0412 or via email.
