I received this off of a Foundation Center RFP listserv. I figured some of
you probably have family literacy projects and some of those projects might
need some funding. The Foundation Center RFP listserv is sent out every
Friday and is sent only in the sector(s) you are working. For more info go

Applications for Grant Program
Deadline: September 8, 2000
The Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy
(http://www.barbarabushfoundation.com/) seeks to develop
or expand projects that are designed to support the
development of literacy skills in families. In 2001,
the foundation expects to award a total of $500,000; no
grant request should exceed $50,000. To be eligible,
organizations must be at least two years old, have a
current instructional literacy program that has operated
for at least two years, have maintained nonprofit status
for at least two years prior to the date of application,
and have or propose a family literacy project that pro-
motes families reading together. Visit the foundation's
