Hi Youthlearn people:
This is my official introduce-myself message. My name is Denise Delgado and
I am New Media Project Coordinator at the Bass Museum of Art in Miami Beach,
FL. We are currently closed for renovations, but we are in the process of
developing and working on New Information Workshop (NIW), which is a set of
programs and services designed to build new museum audiences while providing
public access to arts and technology resources. We are developing two media
facilities (a media research center and digital media lab) intended for
public use through open studio/research time, workshops, classes, and
special programs.
I subscribed to this list because many of our programs will be targeted
towards young people. These include internship programs, as well as an
afterschool program in which high school students will build new media,
writing, and critical thinking skills by working with artists on a
multimedia art project using the internet as a medium and collaborative
tool.
One thing I would like to hear about from other subscribers is their
experiences with intergenerational programs, workshops, etc.--especially in
the context of learning about technology, learning to use the Internet
effectively, etc. What seems to work, and what doesn't?
Our web site is under development, but I'll post the URL by the end of this
week in case anyone wants to find out more about the museum, our programs,
etc.
Thanks!
Denise Delgado
