My Introduction

[Nettrice Gaskins]

Hello everyone!  My name is Nettrice Gaskins and I just joined the YouthLearn
listserv.  I am a visual artist with a MFA in Art and Technology.  I
set up multimedia labs, develop curriculum, and I have been teaching
art and technology for over ten years.  I am one of four founders of
the ArtTECH Youth and Communities Project, a new endeavor that explores
youth development and community building through the arts and technology
.  Currently, all the sites (Miami, Phoenix, Boston) are piloting a summer
project.

As of next Monday, I am starting the ArtTECH summer pilot in Boston with
about 8 teens.  We have four iMac DV Special Editions, a G4 with 500
MHz, and 8 Internet PCs.  The kids are doing some great design/graphics
using AppleWorks, PrintMaster iMovie and Photoshop.  After they get the
basics down they will be ready for Illustrator and PageMaker!
