<p>Position: Assistant Online Community Builder
Organization: The Morino Institute's Youth Development Collaborative Pilot
(http://www.morino.org/ydcpilotoverview.asp)
Description: Help drive new online community for staff and organizations
working with youth and technology in out-of-school settings. This is a
part-time, contract position, 20 hours per week to start. Possibility for
expanded hours over time.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
* Help foster community participation, engagement and knowledge sharing
through electronic mailing list, Web site, electronic newsletter and other
online media.
* Assist with promotion of online community and track growth and
participation.
* Assist with the maintenance and updating of Web site.
<p>* Content management, editing and creation.
* Contribute to facilitation of electronic mailing list. Track
participation, distill and summarize list information, help manage
discussion.
* Aid in the development of strategy for growth of community.
<p>SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
* Experience managing online community, preferably in a non profit
environment.
* Experience participating in online community/communities. High level of
comfort with interacting online.
* Superior online communication, writing and editing skills.
* Knowledge of and experience with youth serving organizations and/or K-12
educational experience preferred.
* Excellent email management skills. Must be able to handle 100 messages a
day or more.
* Web site production and maintenance, including content management.
* Technical skills: Familiarity with Listserv software and commands,
knowledge of HTML and proficiency with Photoshop required. Familiarity with
Dreamweaver and Cold Fusion preferable.
* Interest in and enthusiasm about using the Internet for social change
desired.
Salary: Commensurate with experience
This position is located in the Washington, DC metro area.
