Subject: Online literacy resources
<p>Does anyone else have examples of online resources for literacy programs
and activities, particularly those that involve adults and families?

PBS has a new service called LiteracyLink that provides free online
resources for adults who need to upgrade their literacy skills. Prepared
at a pre-GED level, the content of the first series, Workplace Essential
Skills, focuses on skills needed to find and keep a job and improve
reading, communication and math skills in a workplace context. The series
also has videos and workbooks. Many PBS stations air the videos.
LiteracyLink was cited as a "very strong example of content on the
Internet for early readers" in the recently released report prepared by
The Children's Partnership, "Online Content for Low-Income and Underserved
Americans: The Digital Divide's New Frontier". For further information
you can visit the site, sign on as a learner, and check out what's
available. http://www.pbs.org/literacy
