ABOUT CFY
Computers for Youth (www.cfy.org <http://www.cfy.org> ) is one of the only
nonprofits with a proven model for providing low-income children with access
to computers and the Internet by placing computers in their homes. The key
to our success is that we focus not only on the technology, but also on
providing children and their families with initial training, on-going
technical support, and tailored web content & online mentoring. Our goal is
to invigorate the home as a learning environment and strengthen the bonds
among students, their parents, the school and the community. CFY has signed
up an impressive group of partners including Microsoft, Lotus, AT&T,
American Express, iVillage, the Center for Children and Technology, the Open
Society Institute, the NYC Board of Education, the US Department of
Education, and more. We currently are one of the most talked about
nonprofits focusing on home access. We have been featured in numerous news

In only 17 months of operations, CFY has grown to a staff of five
and an annual budget of over $1,000,000 (dependent upon fulfillment of
commitments). Over the next few years we will expand our program to serve
thousands of school children annually in NYC and begin our national roll-out
to serve thousands more in other cities across the nation. CFY's offices
are located in a non-profit incubator loft space on Lafayette Street near
Astor Place. CFY uses a team approach to carry out all our programs. As a
performance-based nonprofit, we evaluate all aspects of our work and
continually refine our model.
SALARY RANGE
55,000 - $65,000+ commensurate with experience
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage the growth of all aspects of CFY's operations in conjunction
with the Executive Director and the Department Directors, including:
* computer refurbishing
* training
* help desk operations
* online learning and mentoring work
* fundraising
Manage day-to-day relationships with selected existing partners.
Assist CFY in its national rollout (may include domestic travel).
Help CFY in the evaluation process and help fine-tune CFY's model for
providing home access to low-income families.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
* 3-5 years experience with project management.
* Experience in education and/or education technology.
* Strong planning skills and strategic thinking.
* Excellent research, analysis and communication skills.
* Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
* MBA, JD, or an advanced degree in the social sciences or public
policy.
* Knowledge of the Internet.
* Top-notch computer skills (ability to use all office applications
and basic understanding of how a computer works).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Formal technology background (i.e., engineering degree or
coursework).
* Experience managing technology projects.
* Experience and analysis skills relating to growth strategies and
national roll-outs.

Open Society Institute, is creating a network of after-school programs in=20
the New York public schools. In just two years, 109 after-school programs=

are up and running in all five boroughs, LI and upstate New York. To meet=
=20
our growing needs we are seeking a new staff member to add to our team.
<p>Position: Technology Programs Development Specialist
Reports to: Director, Training, Technical Assistance and Resource=
Development
Description:
TASC is seeking an energetic, creative, and persistent technology=20
specialist to provide support and guidance to TASC funded after-school=20
program staff. The technology specialist joins an in-house team of=20
specialist in the arts, volunteer management, parental involvement etc. The=
=20
ideal candidate is a person, who enjoys hands on work with staff and=20
students, is a tenacious problem solver and is goal and results oriented.=20
Knowledge of the New York public school system is a plus along with=20
experience teaching and knowledge of after school programming.
Responsibilities:
=B7 The technology specialist will support, guide and collaborate with=
=20
programs around the use of technology as a tool to extend and enhance=20
student learning.
=B7 Provide direct assistance to sites in design and delivery of=20
student activities.
=B7 Train and coach novice and intermediate level users in basic=20
computer literacy and the use of web authoring tools.
=B7 Help the sites to create, design and maintain a web site.
=B7 Research and recommend application software and train staff on=20
their use.
=B7 Assist sites on an ongoing basis in their exploration of the ways=

that technologies can support instruction and represent TASC in discussions=

on technologies application in after-school settings.
Qualifications:
A Master=92s degree in instructional design and development, instructional=

systems technology, educational technology or a similar field. Experience=20
in multimedia a plus.
Demonstrated expertise and success in applying instructional development=20
and design principles to the development of curriculum utilizing a variety=
=20
of technology based strategies, including on-line and web based strategies.
Strong interpersonal, written and verbal skills. The ability to=20
problem-solve and a result orientation are a must.
Salary: Commensurate with experience
Hours: Full-Time or Part-Time (TASC will also consider a consulting=20
arrangement).
