StargazerNet, an Internet portal for nonprofit activities and organizations, is a project of the Stargazer Foundation, which is developing the supporting platform technology and databases. The Stargazer Foundation is also organizing the Stargazer Federation, a collaborative union of visionary organizations (Partners) and individuals (Stargazers) who both contribute to and benfit from the organizing of the vast knowledge on the Web.
You can be a Member of the Stargazer Federation. You can help identify, gather, and organize the best of the vast knowledge base on the Web. You can help Build a Living Library.
THE TAGGING PROJECT
A Tag is an imprint, an index, and, in the childhood game, a transfer of responsibility. You can take on the responsibility of Building a Living Library by exploring the Internet and leaving a trail for others to follow. You can leave your imprint by:
1. Tagging Content (that is, indexing content) already on the Web so that it can be a part of the Living Library.
2. Tagging Others to recruit them to help link the vast knowledge base on the Web.
YOU CAN HELP TODAY
Think of all the pages of information on the Web as articles or books that you are going to help put on the "shelves" of StargazerNet'a Living Library. As a Stargazer Federation Explorer, your mission is to:
1. Find Content (such as information, articles, curricula, reference materials, organizations, etc.) on the Web that you believe would benefit others if it were more broadly disseminated.
2. Note the URL (that is, the exact Web address of the page for each content item).
3. Enter the URL at StargazerNet's Tag Entry Page, where you will also find more detailed instructions, at:
www.StargazerNet.net/tag
<p>This process places information in the Living Library database. It will be reviewed for quality and appropriateness, categorized, and, once approved, made available for viewing.
This is an excellent intellectual and technology-based exercise for computer users of all ages and also provides a vehicle through which students in your respective computer programs and labs practice and hone their higher-order research skills through the utilization of web-based browsers, search engines, while prioritizing and categorizing search topics; utilizing suggested web browsers and their respective search protocols; adding valuable web sites to a Favorite list; viewing, evaluating, discarding, capturing, assimilating web-based content.
If you are interested in participating do not hesitate to contribute by visiting the URL above.
