Hello, YouthLearn!

I would like to first introduce myself as a colleague of Victoria and Pam's
at the Morino Institute. My background is in the resiliency of, and
prevention programs for, high-risk young people, particularly those headed
for entry into the criminal justice system. Although I've worked at the
Morino Institute for seven months and lurked on YouthLearn on a daily basis
since its beginnings, I will now be much more involved with the Web site and
the listserv in my new role as Internet researcher. I will be looking into
any issues you ask us to research, as well as writing pieces for the
YouthLearn site.

Now, for my first request to you all:

We are looking for examples of mission statement for after school programs
that integrate technology. A mission statement sets out in just a few
sentences the core values and purposes of an organization, initiative or
team. It should act as a benchmark going forward to help decide what kinds
of efforts the organization plans to undertake, but be brief enough to
clearly express the most important unifying principles. We are particularly
seeking examples where organizations involved all of the staff, the
community and/or youth served in the creation process. If your mission
statement is on the Web, you can send us a link. If not, send me the file
directly (don't send it to the YouthLearn list!) and we will put it up on
the YouthLearn Web site. These will be going up on the YouthLearn Web site
in February.

Thanks for your help, and it's good to "meet" you all!

Lara
