<p>--------------------------------------------------------------

We're pleased to announce that AmeriCorps' new web based recruitment and
placement system (AC*RPS) is now available. We are "live" and ready for
business. The committed and the curious across America now have a place to
go to find out which AmeriCorps opportunities are available that might
match their interests. They can apply to multiple programs and
track their selection process-all at the speed of the Internet. At this
moment AC*RPS contains approximately 700 AmeriCorps program listings and
thousands of AmeriCorps member assignments. We froze new program listings
on January 5 to allow time to transfer the AC*RPS database to a new server
and to test system components. AmeriCorps programs can now
go to AC*RPS and enter new information or change listings already
 submitted.

AC*RPS was developed based on issues, ideas and suggestions articulated by
hundreds of people including AmeriCorps program staff (state programs,
national direct sponsors and AmeriCorps*VISTA projects), State Commission
staff, Corporation staff and AmeriCorps members and alumni. AC*RPS
simplifies the AmeriCorps application process, strengthens
customer service, and provides a more comprehensive method to promote
AmeriCorps and generate interest among the growing number of persons who
 access the World Wide Web.

The launch of AC*RPS will be paralleled by the February launch of an
extensive www.AmeriCorps.org TV/radio public service campaign. A number
of other web site public relations activities are being coordinated by our
Office of Public Affairs. And we rely upon you to help refer potential
AmeriCorps applicants or any individual interested in information about
 AmeriCorps to our web site.

For more information, go to http://www.americorps.org/resour ces/. To
log-in, you will need your 8-digit or 14-digit AmeriCorps program/project
code.
