Hi Mary --
I guess you're getting overwhelmed with email?!!
We're always looking for ways to improve this electronic way of
communicating with each other. So if you do find the example you mentioned,
please send it along! We dug around a bit after getting your email and
looked at a couple of Web-based forums today. So thanks for giving us a push
in this direction.
I know you're getting the daily digest version of YouthLearn. (For anyone
else who prefers the digest version, you can switch by going to
http://www.youthlearn.org/join/mailing.html). We can begin offering a weekly
digest if enough people are interested. (Unfortunately, the software won't
allow us to offer both a daily and a weekly digest). There is also an
archive of past messages at http://www.youthlearn.org/join/archives.html.
The best argument for keeping YouthLearn as is (email based) is that its
convenient and immediate, the messages go right to your inbox. That's also
the worst thing about it! Web-based discussions are more organized and less
intrusive but often easier to ignore.
What do others on the list think? Would you prefer email or Web-based
discussions for YouthLearn?
Pam

Subject: Discussion groups
<p>Hi, folks, I'd like to see Afterschool, YouthLearn, and
other discussion groups set up a connection on their web
page so we can participate in discussions there, and not
have them coming directly to our e-mail. We can choose a
topic that we're interested in, and either have those
messages sent directly to us, or receive a "heads-up" to
check the discussion group on a regular basis. i know this
is done elsewhere, and will send an example as soon as I can
research it.
