Come to Washington DC!!

A challenging and rewarding Americorps*VISTA position available in our
Nation's Capital starting in July.  The VISTA will have the opportunity=
 to
play a leadership role with our DC Reads programs.  Work entails helpin=
g to
coordinate a program that employs 150+ Work-Study and Volunteer tutors =
from
American University in 7 tutoring sites.

Additional responsibilities include the following:
-    providing recruitment and coordination support to the university
campus coordinator
-    organizing pre-service and in-service training for tutors
-    developing additional tutoring sites as directed
-    developing a plan to involve community volunteers as tutors
-    event planning

<p>Qualifications:

-    Eligible candidates must be self-starters who want to play a
leadership role and who are able to work independently
-    Demonstrate flexibility, creativity, and an open mind
-    College degree (2 or 4 years)
-    Valid driver's license is required
-    Community service or nonprofit experience preferred
-    Volunteer management experience a plus
-    Bilingual in Spanish is a plus for one of our sites

<p>Benefits:
-    $826 monthly stipend (before taxes) paid bi-weekly
-    $4,725 education award upon completion of 1 year of service, to be=

used for past or future loans (or $1,000 stipend)
