Hi,
I just joined the Youthlearn mailing list this past weekend. I was
directed to your project indirectly by email from a representative of the
Honduran goverment who works in the Canadian embasssy. Currently I am the
chairman of the board of directors of a Boys & Girls club in Canada and
have been working on a project in Honduras since 1999 to build a youth
center in the mountains near Guatemala.

The Honduran rep. was just encouraging us to teach technology as opposed to
basic survival and trade skills when he directed me to www.ctcnet.org.
While we taught basic software at our youthcenter for about 10 months this
past
year, I joined the list to help determine if there is an appropriate
benefit associated with this type of education in a setting where the
opportunity to put it to use is very limited.

Looking forward to your comments,
Phil Davidson
