<p>Position Open: Senior Project Director, YouthLearn Initiative

The YouthLearn Initiative at EDC, "Inspiring young minds through
technology-enriched learning," offers youth development professionals and
educators comprehensive services and resources for using technology to
create exciting learning environments. Created by the Morino Institute and
now led by Education Development Center, YouthLearn provides user-friendly
tools to help organizational leaders and staff start or strengthen both
after-school and in-school programs. Offerings include The YouthLearn
Guide, a hands-on manual with lessons, worksheets, and sample activities;
the YouthLearn online community, featuring a web site and discussion list;
an information-rich electronic newsletter; and opportunities for training

The Senior Project Director is responsible for building YouthLearn into a
national center of excellence that serves youth development professionals
across the country.

Responsibilities include:
· develop a creative vision and strategic plan for YouthLearn
· obtain funding from corporate, government, and foundation sources
· develop and implement innovative partnerships to leverage the work of
YouthLearn
· design and direct a communications and marketing plan to promote
YouthLearn
· develop new training, technical assistance, resources, and services to
build the capacity of youth development professionals
· oversee and manage day to day operations of a small staff
· represent YouthLearn at major national meetings
· collaborate with other EDC senior directors to develop new programs

Desired characteristics:
· demonstration of creative approaches to building educational or community
development programs
· proven record in proposal writing and business development resulting in
program funding
· leadership in a program that uses technology to enhance learning or
create exciting learning environments for youth
· excellent communication skills
· success in developing collaborations with public and private sector
organizations and associations
· an understanding of and commitment to developmentally appropriate,
inquiry-based/project-based learning that integrates technology as a tool
for learning
· management experience that includes designing, implementing, and managing
a large national project
· experience in designing and delivering training and/or technical
assistance programs for professionals involved in education or training
· familiarity and comfort in using technology for management and for
learning

Education:
Masters Degree in Education, Psychology, or Community Development or
Equivalent Experience and Ten Years Field Experience as Director or Manager
in Education, Community Development, Private Sector or Foundation dedicated
to serving the needs of Youth.
