Justin,
I'm so excited to learn about your program!!! iMentor (www.iMentor.org) has
been working with very similar goals since 1999. We are an e-mail based
(with 4-6 face-to-face meetings a year) mentoring program with the mission
of improving the lives of young people from underserved communities in New
York City through innovative, technology-based approaches to youth
mentoring and education.
We started working with a single school in the Bronx, and we are now
working with almost 400 mentor/mentee pairs this school year alone. We've
learned so much in the past 3 years as we put the program together, and we
would love to share what we've learned with you (or anyone else who's doing
similar work). Please look over our web site at www.iMentor.org and feel
free to contact me if you have any questions. We have permission forms,
mentor/mentee/teacher contracts, project materials, training materials,
useful links, and other resources you might want to utilize as your program
grows. We also provide web-based, advertisement free email accounts to our
mentees through our web site.
Thank you for sharing your success story!
