word about the availability of the Director position for our 4-H/JC Penney
After-School Program. Please forward to individuals in your states and

Director - 4-H/JC Penney After-School Program, National 4-H Council, Chevy
Chase, Maryland
Summary of Position: Provides overall leadership for coordinating,
developing, implementing and evaluating the National 4-H/JC Penney
After-School Program.  This is a fulltime position with the National 4-H
Council, which may be housed at Council in Chevy Chase, Maryland or another
to be determined location such as an extension office or
university.

Responsibilities: Work closely with the National 4-H/JC Penney After-School
Program Team in all aspects of program development and budget management.
Work closely with the National 4-H/JC Penney After-School Program Team to
coordinate the development of a national 4-H After-School Curriculum.  Meet
established timeline for piloting and completing the core curriculum and
training materials. Create and manage a request for proposal system for
demonstration sites that partner with local JC Penney stores. Create and
implement a national marketing strategy and program for the National 4-H/JC
Penney After-School Program. With guidance from the curriculum committee,
develop and implement a training plan for demonstration site 4-H staff.
Work with the National 4-H/JC Penney After-School Program Team to develop
and implement an on-going evaluation plan for the National 4-H/JC Penney
After-School Program.  Coordinate the work of professional, administrative,
support, volunteer, and contract staff. Partner with National 4-H Council
leadership in developing future resources for the program and managing
positive relationships with all funding sources.

Qualifications and Experience: Master's degree required, doctorate a plus,
with a background in both communications/marketing and child/youth
development preferred, with a minimum of 3-5 years progressive experience
in position of leadership and responsibility. Working knowledge of the
Cooperative Extension System and 4-H and Youth Development as well as
after-school programming and child-care issues. Demonstrated success in the
development of deliverables, management of large projects and working with
project teams.  Excellent management and communications skills. Excellent
marketing and public relations skills.  Experience working with youth
serving organizations preferred.  Ability to build partnerships through
excellent collaboration and networking skills.  Skilled in the use of
technology (i.e., Word, Excel, Web).  Possess the passion, initiative, and
commitment to do whatever it takes to get the job done.

Salary:  Commensurate with education and experience.
