Announcing the YouthNOISE 'Ready 2 Wear Fashion Drive'
What is the Ready 2 Wear Fashion Drive?
YouthNOISE (www.youthnoise.com), Save the Children's teen focused web site
that sparks youth voice and action to help teens around the world, has
created a six-week (3/1/02 - 4/15/02), nationwide clothing drive that
charges teens across the country to go through their closets and donate
their used clothes to Goodwill or any other charity that accepts clothing
donations.
Why is this so important?
Over 700,000 people are homeless on any given night. Many are young
people, living on the streets or in temporary shelters and are in need of
help. The Ready 2 Wear Fashion Drive seeks to provide quality clothing to
charitable organizations that assist homeless youth and the impoverished,
so that they can stay warm, have additional clothing, and in some cases, be
presentable to seek work opportunities.
How Ready 2 Wear works?
Teens are asked to go to www.youthnoise.com/fashiondrive and vote to
include their high school in Ready 2 Wear. Each participant can vote
everyday for the entire 6-week duration of the promotion, as well as send
an E-card telling others about Ready 2 Wear. The school that gets the most
clothes donated (in pounds) multiplied by the number of votes for their
school wins the Grand Prize!
What is the Grand Prize?
A YouthNOISE Invasion & Fashion Show at their school, including free
giveaways, clothing from the popular teen clothing catalog, Alloy, a live
DJ, and a $250 donation by YouthNOISE in the winning school's name, to the
charity of their choice. YouthNOISE will work with the winning school's
principal, and the school's Ready 2 Wear teen participants, to coordinate
timing and logistics for the Grand Prize event at their school.
The YouthNOISE Invasion & Fashion Show is also a great opportunity for the
winning school to celebrate their school's commitment to service as well as
student service leaders to emphasize the importance of giving to others.
YouthNOISE (www.youthnoise.com) inspires young people to learn about issues
affecting their generation, connect them with other teens around the
countryand the world, and empower them to take action and create positive
change.
