Check out Leadership, Education, and Athletics in Partnership. They are a
nationally recognized statewide organization serving 1100 children, ages
7-14 in New Haven, Hartford, New London, Bridgeport, and Waterbury, CT.

They are one of the largest Americorps programs in the country and run an
afterschool and summer enrichment program for children living in low income
neighborhoods, primarily public housing. They do a very good job training
high school and college students to use a reading-based curriculum that
they've developed. They also have close partnerships with public schools,
and universities.

Subject: Seeking educational nonprofits serving elementary students
Hi --
I would like to introduce myself: My name is Felicia Tripp and I am the
Executive Director of Project Discover, based in San Francisco, CA. Project
Discover is a tuition-free academic program for motivated elementary
students who have limited educational opportunities. We have a summer
program and an after-school tutoring program for 3-6th graders that
strengthens students' love of learning through thematic curriculum and
experiential learning.
I am currently researching what other programs exist nation-wide that serve
elementary students and may have similar missions. If you know of any,
please send me info!
In addition, if anyone knows about a program called Project H.E.L.P. based
in Santa Clara county, California -- please send me info for them.
Thanks, Felicia
