I am writing about open positions at CampInteractive this summer working
with teenagers from New York City, technology, and the outdoors.

<p>CampInteractive is a unique summer program for teenagers from the South
Bronx area of New York City that combines a wilderness adventure course
with a technology and web development training component.  Our goal is to
bring new perspectives and brighter futures to young people from an often
over-looked area.

We have two four-week sessions, the first running from July 8th through
August 2nd and the second running from July 22nd through August 16th.
Positions are available in both sessions.

Program Leader
-----------------------

Job Description:
As a Program Leader, you will be responsible for a group of approximately
15 young people throughout their CampInteractive experience.  You will have
input on the curriculum and day-to-day responsibilities for the kids.  T
The goal is to teach a combination of intellectual, creative, and
technology skills.

The program consists of a 2 week Outward Bound trip (managed by the New
York City Outward Bound Center), where you will be working with
professional guides leading our campers on an exciting wilderness adventure
in the High Peaks region of the Adirondack Mountains (including hiking,
canoeing, and rock climbing), and a 2 week classroom project in the Bronx
at Lehman College where you will help the campers build a series of group
and personal web sites reflective of their wilderness experience.

Job Qualifications:
·Enthusiasm for learning, the outdoors, and technology is mandatory.
·Degree from a leading university or college; graduate degree in Education
preferred.
·At least one year of experience as a teacher (or significant experience as
a camp counselor).
·Experience and long-term interest in working with at-risk kids from
underserved neighborhoods.
·Excellent computer skills and some basic web development skills (HTML,
etc.).
·Basic camping skills and familiarity with the outdoors.

The Details:
When: 1st session: July 8th ? August 2nd; 2nd session: July 22nd ? August
16th
Where: Two weeks camping in the High Peaks region of the Adirondack
Mountains in upstate New York
Two weeks of daytime activities in the Bronx at Lehman College

Classroom Director

As the Classroom Director you will be responsible for the technology
training portion of the program.  Working with both sessions during their
time at Lehman College, you will instruct classes that will include
PowerPoint, HTML, Front Page, and Photoshop and, in turn, oversee the
student's development of their group and personal web pages.  You will also
be responsible for managing progression through the curriculum and
organizing graduation presentations to parents and other outside activities
throughout the course.

Job Qualifications:
·Enthusiasm for community development, learning, and technology is
mandatory.
·Degree from a leading university or college; graduate degree in Education
preferred.
·Experience and long-term interest in working with at-risk young people
from underserved neighborhoods.
·Excellent computer skills and web development skills (HTML, etc.).

Classroom Counselor

As a Classroom Counselor you will working the student's during the
classroom portion of the program.  Working with both sessions, you will
assist the Program Leaders and Classroom Director, helping to instruct the
technology classes that will include PowerPoint, HTML, Front Page, and
Photoshop. Also, you will be expected to organize and manage other small
group activities during the day.

Job Qualifications:
·Enthusiasm for community development, learning, and technology is
mandatory.
·Finished at least Sophomore year at a leading university or college by
July 2002
·Some experience working with young people or teaching technology to
teenagers.
·Experience and long-term interest in working with at-risk young people
from underserved neighborhoods.
·Excellent computer skills and web development skills (HTML, etc.).
