You are invited to attend the National School-Age Care Alliance (NSACA)
2002 Public Policy Forum (co-hosted by the AED Center for Youth Development
and Policy Research)
When: May 19th through May 21st, 2002
Where: Academy for Educational Development (AED), Washington, DC
The year 2002 will be an exciting and crucial time to be involved in
formulating and advocating afterschool public policy! Come hear from the
experts, share what you know, and participate in lively discussions about
the issues that affect you!
Preliminary Forum Agenda:
Sunday, May 19th
10:30 a.m.: Review of Legislation (for newcomers only)
1:00 p.m.: Opening Remarks
1:45 p.m. to 5:15 p.m.: Panels and Discussions on State-Level
Developments:
- 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC)
- Child Care and Development Block Grant (CCDBG)
- Workforce Staffing and Compensation
Monday, May 20th
9:00 a.m.: Keynote Speaker
10:00 a.m: Presentations by Federal Agency Officials
1:00 p.m.: Presentations by Key Congressional Staff
3:00 p.m.: Preparation for Hill Visits on Tuesday
Tuesday, May 21st
9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.: Hill Visits
1:00 p.m.: Reconvene at AED for Debriefing
3:30 p.m.: Adjourn
Public Policy Forum Registration:
Registration forms are available on NSACA's website: www.nsaca.org (click
on Public Policy at the left) and are due by Wednesday, May 1st. Full
Registration Fee (May 19, 20, 21): $50 (NSACA members); $125 (non-members)
One-Day Only Registration Fee: $25 (NSACA members); $75 (non-members)
Annual membership for NSACA is only $45. Contact NSACA (staff at nsaca.org or
617-298-5012) if you would like to join and only pay the members'
registration rate!
Hotel Information:
Please book your room directly with the hotel of your choice. There are two
blocks of rooms at hotels within two blocks of AED: a block of two-night
reservations at The Churchill (formerly the Hotel Sofitel) for May 19th and
20th, and a block for three-night reservations at the Jurys Normandy Inn
for May 18th, 19th, and 20th (for those of you staying over Saturday
night). Please book your reservation at the Churchill if you are staying
for only two nights.
Please book your hotel room early, as a limited number of rooms are being
held. May is a very busy month in Washington, and when the reserved blocks
of rooms are all booked, it may be difficult for you to find other rooms or
hotels available close by.
