Faculty Development and Teacher Prep Opportunities

Enclosed, please find the information on two Faculty Development and
Teacher preparation programs. Thanks in advance for spreading the word.

I) If you and a colleague are interested in participating in a hands-on
workshop that focuses on computational science across the curriculum as
well as cluster computing please sign up today. Travel grants are still
available. The workshop is May 6-7 in Champaign, IL.

This beginners workshop will be a two-day tutorial directed at teaching, in
detail, how to set up and use clusters. This workshop will be a combination
of formal presentations and hands on installation work. The specific
cluster technology presented will be OSCAR software (Open Source Cluster
Application Resources) installed cluster running under RedHat Linux
http://oscar.sourceforge.net.

Deadline to register and apply for a travel grant is April 5, 2002. To

this program.

We are pleased to announce the call for participation for the SC2002
Education Program. This year's conference will be held November 16-22, 2002
in Baltimore, Maryland. Information about the conference and the Education
Program are available at www.sc-conference.org/sc2002

Applications for the Education Program are due April 26, 2002.

This year's Education Program encourages participation by teams of K-12
teachers in partnership with undergraduate faculty, as well as teams of
undergraduate faculty. We welcome you to submit a team application with
faculty in your area. The faculty may be from two or four year colleges and
universities.

We would very much appreciate having you share this call for participation
with other teachers in your area that may like to participate in the
program.
