hi everyone -
if your ctc has trouble getting people to show up, this way cool new
toy could have people knocking down your door to get in to try it. it's
admittedly not cheap ($750), but it could have a very strong effect on
motivation (as a reward activity). i like the video camera part of it,
which can be incorporated into a video production curriculum.

check out the very nice quicktime movies about this remote control
helicopter on the company's web site. when i saw this helicopter being
flown in a gym, i couldn't help but think how fun it would be to set up a
"course" to challenge people to navigate thru. (i.e. people would have to
fly the remote control helicopter thru various "loops.")
the original ctc that toni stone set up in harlem in the early
1980's was called "playing to win." let's not forget how important play is
to learning and human growth. and yes, giggling is a sign of learning. :

it's also helpful to consider that if your ctc were to get such a remote
control helicopter, that immediately increases the "newsworthiness" of all
the other good stuff you do. (i.e. it makes it easy for a news reporter to
have a "hook" to write about.)
if you'd like one of these remote control helicopters donated to your ctc,
the simple step of adding it to your ctc's web site wish list could make
the donation happen faster than you might think. i'm a big believer in web
wish lists. wishes do come true -- especially if you explain on the web
site _why_ your ctc could benefit from having the item you're wishing for.
