To add to Laura's description a youth practitioner works with, not for the
youth. It's about helping young people empower themselves. The practitioner
is also a mentor, a guide on the side rather than a star on the stage.
He/she helps the young person discover their assets, their gifts and build
upon them to make decisions, solve problems and learn from each other. A
youth practitioner is a facilitator of learning and skilled in group
development techniques. The bottom line is young people have to trust the
person, understand and own the process which they may go through, feel safe
and have some fun in doing it.
