Hello YouthLearn-
I know that the pace of the discussion list has picked up recently. I've
been digesting messages on the some discussion threads to ease the traffic
of email into your inboxes. Also, please remember that you can always
switch from the regular to the weekly digest format. To do so, send an
email to: majordomo at mail.edc.org. The content of the message should read:

Happy Friday!

Are you looking for programs that are only in Washington. I work for
Communities In Schools of Denton County in Denton, Texas. We are a
nationwide program; you may want to contact the Washington office.

Hi Arlene,
In regards to internships, what type of internships are needed? What fields
are your students studying. I know of companies that do offer internships
for Cisco and possibly UNIX, NT and Novell Networks. Let me know and I'll
do some research and locate them for you.
Sincerely,
Sonia Witherspoon

Hi:
I am very interested in your program.
At the Governor's Prevention Partnership we have been involved in
mentoring initiatives and prevention strategies.
Connecticut has now involved us in a new initiative:
Curriculum development in the IT cluster, and matching students in our
pilot sites with career mentors in the IT field.
This will include, but not be limited to, IT internships for high school
students.
We are very interested in any materials you may have created (internship
guides for students and businesses), as well as what kind of activities
students have been involved with in their internship experiences.
We will also be forming Businesses Advisory Groups at our six pilot sites.
=
Have you had any experience in this area?
I would appreciate any information you can provide. If you would like to
see any of our materials on mentoring, I would be happy to forward them to
you.
Thank you,
Susan
