Here's a glimpse at what's being offered:

Strategies for Corporate and Community Partnerships
This session will outline the methodology used to incorporate community
organizations and potential business partners. It will cover strategies and
goal setting for leaders, executives and volunteers. The workshop will
entail an information session, followed by an interactive session for goal
setting by the various organizations represented, followed by a "how to
accomplish" these goals session. This will all be followed by a question
and answer period, as well as a portion devoted to our fundraising
initiative with the Tutor/Mentor Connection.

Inciting Invitations to Learn

Participants in this workshop will engage in learning how a summer program
utilizes five special events to entice student learning in language arts,
mathematics and science. Specifically, participants will find out about:
Battle of the Books, Forensics for Kids, the Math Olympics, the Science
Fair and the Literary Magazine. Participants will receive "how to"
information, as well as support materials, so that they may return to their
programs and implement these effective learning activities.
Presented by Jan Fitzsimmons and NCC Interns, North Central College,
Associated College of Illinois

Making a Private High School Education a Reality

Learn about the opportunities available in Chicago for your middle school
students to make the transition to a private high school. This session will
walk you through the process of identifying the appropriate high school,
getting admitted and helping finance the education.

Relationship Development: Building Blocks for Strong Tutors/Mentors
This workshop will provide participants with a tool box for setting mentors
up for success in creating effective mentoring relationships. This workshop
covers the important information mentors need to develop and maintain
successful mentoring relationships with the youth in your program.
Participants will also learn strategies to recognize and appreciate
volunteers so they can retain effective volunteer mentors.

PLEASE NOTE: This workshop is an example of one our advanced workshops
being offered for a $20 fee in addition to the regular registration fee for
the day. These workshops are 3 hours in length and will cover their topics
in-depth.

These are just a few of the workshops being offered at the Tutor/Mentor
Leadership Conference, which cover all aspects of starting, running and
keeping a tutor/mentor or after-school program running. Visit our website
at www.tutormentorconference.bigstep.com for in-depth workshop
descriptions, speakers' bios and complete registration information.

Please forward this e-mail announcement along to co-workers, colleagues,
businesses and friends that would benefit from this information. (To add
someone to the T/MC distribution list, send an email to
astrum at cabriniconnections.net with the name and e-mail address.)

The T/MC and the Tutor/Mentor Conference is only as strong as those who get
involved and help it grow. Almost all of the services and resources
provided by the T/MC are available at no charge or at a very low cost. The
Conference would not be possible without the combined efforts of hundreds
of tutor/mentor and youth service organizations. By purchasing an ad in the
Conference program book, you will help us in making the connection between
all of these organizations stronger.

For as little as $50, you can help to recognize and celebrate the work of
other tutor/mentor programs, volunteers and business partners. Please visit
www.tutormentorconference.bigstep.com and click on Support Us to find out
how.

Registration is available on-line at www.tutormentorconference.bigstep.com.

You can complete the entire registration process on-line and pay with a
