Talk to someone at Grand Rapids Community Media Center. You should
definitely check out their website www.grcmc.org and specifically take a
look at MOLLIE, their Mobile Learning Lab for Information Education http://mollie.grcmc.org/. It is one of the best models I've seen!
I also forgot to mention Street Level Youth Media www.street-level.org in
Chicago.

Hello, my name is Nettrice Gaskins and I am director of the BNN Multimedia
Center in Roxbury, MAhttp://www.bnntv.org/mmc). A few years ago, I provided resources to quite a few Neighborhood
Networks sites for the DigitalArt Youth Program (DAY). Currently, I am
running a center with about 18 computers (Mac and PC), scanner, digital
still cameras, digital video camcorders and other digital equipment. We
have standard digital imaging, web, digital video, CD and DVD authoring
software. The model I am using includes still, dynamic and interactive
media, from basic to advanced.
Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Macromedia Dreamweaver, Flash, Director,
iMovie, After Effects, Final Cut Pro and DVD Studio Pro are what most of
our members are using. People can draw with the mouse or create/capture
still images, design web sites, edit video and create video-CDs and DVDs.
We try to keep things cross-platform (Mac, PC, etc.) but we lean on Macs
for digital video.
I still have the DAY resource guide with the standards, from basic to
advanced, so feel free to check out the web site for more info at http://www.geocities.com/arttechycp
Hope this helps...good luck!

Lora,
I have created a digital media lab here in San Francisco. I run a Job
skills/ creative skills program, and we do web design, digital photo,
digital animation, and video production. We use macromedias digital media
software (for web, and animation), adobe Photoshop (for digital photo),
and final cut pro (video). We have three digital cameras (I wish I had
more), a scanner, photo printer, b&w laser printer, and a MiniDV
camcorder.
Do you know about the Beaumont Foundation? They have a call for proposals
for lab equipment.

I have lots of information. I'm not sure where you are in the process of
creating this lab, but you are more than welcome to pick my brain.
Cheers,
