Hello,
As I read your e-mail, it occurred to me that your program sounds a lot
like Communities In Schools. We are a national program with a mission to
help kids stay in school and graduate. We have tons of programs and I am
the development contact. You can try Safe and Drug Free Schools, Brown,
Meadows, Swalm, and particularly city funding and United Way funding. If I
can help, let me know.

Karen,

I'm a Greensborian as well. Please excuse me if I'm telling you something
you already know. The resource we use for NC grantors (aside from
constant gum-shoeing on- and offline) is www.capdev.com. They produce the
book and online version of NC Giving. You can slice and dice foundations
by name, interest areas, directors/trustess, location, etc.

I give it a C+ as a resource because the information is often incorrect or
outdated. Nonetheless, it's the best thing I've found so far. I'd love
to hear what other people are using for NC and national funding research.

Peace and grace,
Robin Britt, Jr.

Dear Karen:

For your education/mentor program, the funding initiative that come to
mind is HUD ROSS (Residents Opportunities for Self Sufficiency). This is
an underutilized fund. Check it out!
