YouthLearn subscribers:

Everyone here at YouthLearn is very excited about the New Year and a number
of new opportunities and offerings we'll be sharing with you in the coming
months. One area of development that I wanted to update you on is our
effort to explore new international collaborations. We've known for some
time that our methodology has value in a range of youth settings, and we're
now really putting that to the test. Here at Education Development Center
where we're housed, we have a number of partnerships with USAID to provide
health, education, and technology assistance to developing countries.
YouthLearn has been asked specifically to pilot several training
initiatives with USAID missions who are establishing community technology
projects or telecentres. We'll be working with educators and community
members to develop learning modules that weave technology into in-school
and after-school activities. We'll certainly be sharing our discoveries
with you as the work unfolds and also calling on many in our community who
have additional resources to share. We look forward to the information
technology revolution becoming a truly global force for learning and youth
development, with YouthLearn helping to promote the exchange of expertise
and best practices across the continents.

Look for an email later today from Monica as she sets off for the
Democratic Republic of Congo on our first assessment trip. We're excited
to be making this new connection and expanding our community of learners.
I look forward to your ideas and feedback as we move forward.

Best,

Tony
