Good news! The deadline for submitting practices to the Promising
Practices in Afterschool (PPAS) System has been extended until February
28th. We would like to invite you to submit a practice or two for review!
To do so, go to: http://www.afterschool.org/submission_menu.cfm.
Here are the top three benefits of submitting a practice:
Benefit #3: You will receive detailed feedback on your practice from
trained peer reviewers.
Benefit #2: If your practice is recognized as promising, you will receive:
--An electronic copy of the PPAS logo to use on your program's website,
newsletter, letterhead, and other communications tools!
--An official letter of recognition that can be used to support your
program's funding efforts!
--A copy of the National Notebook of Promising Practices, an attractive
and expandable binder full of promising practices from around the country!
And, your practice will become part of the national database of promising
practices in afterschool.
And the #1 benefit to you and your afterschool program:
--You will be helping to build the field of afterschool by sharing your
practice with other program directors around the country, and build the
evidence base that afterschool programs support learning and academic
success!
The only thing that you need to submit for Part 1 is the name of your
practice, descriptions of three activities that the practice supports, and
your contact information. Your Part 1 submission should meet all of the
following:
1. The practice has been in existence for at least one year.
2. The practice listed is a practice-the underlying rationale or process
for an activity.
3. The three activities are activities-the way in which a practice is
carried out.
4. The practice and activities are related to afterschool-Afterschool
refers to non-school hours, including afternoons and evenings following
the school day. It also may include the morning hours before school
begins, weekends, school vacations and holidays.
5. The practice and activities are related to the marked component area.
6. All three activities are related to the practice.
If your application is accepted by a trained peer reviewer, you will be
invited to submit Part 2 of the application.
We hope that you will consider submitting a practice for recognition.
Thanks, everyone!
