Here are a list of grant opportunities that we found, some from the

1**National Endowment for the Humanities
Deadline: March 1, 2003
National Endowment for the Humanities is now accepting applications from 
K-12 school teachers and college and university teachers to study 
humanities topics in a variety of summer seminars and institutes.  All 
teachers selected to participate in a  seminar or institute will be 
awarded a stipend of $2,800, $3,250, or $3,700 to cover costs of travel, 
books and other research expenses, and living expenses.  NEH is also 
accepting proposals from organizations wishing to conduct seminars and 
institutes for the 2004 program.  Any US non-profit with 501 (c)(3) 
tax-exempt status and state and local governmental agencies are eligible 
to apply.  2003 seminar and institute topics and locations, eligibility criteria, and 
application guidelines are available on the website:  http://www.neh.gov

2**Funding exchange OSD programs
Deadline: March 1, 2003 
The Funding exchange OSD programs support social change via 
community-based organizing and activism.  Funds can be used for projects 
that serve people of color and projects that build community.  Issues of 
interest include:  economic equity, environmental justice, social justice, 
anti-oppression, media, cultural activism and movement building.

3**New York City Community Fellowships Program
Deadline is April 18, 2003 
New York City Community Fellowships Program, established by Open Society 
Institute, will support individuals as they apply their leadership in 
community-led projects that empower and improve the quality of public 
life.  Each year the program enables up to ten individuals to develop 
projects in New York City over an eighteen-month period, including a 
stipend of $48,750 and a start-up grant of $2,000.  Program guidelines can

4**Community Foundation Silicon Valley
Deadline:  open
Community Foundation Silicon Valley has announced a new grant application 
process for its Community Impact Grants program.  Areas of focus include: 
Arts and Cultural Participation, Education and Lifelong Learning, 
Self-Reliant Individuals and Families, Neighborhoods and Civic Engagement, 
and the Innovative Application of Technology.  Public-benefit corporations 
serving Silicon Valley are eligible to apply at any time during the year 
for up to $25,000 in funding.  Submit a letter of intent and an online
