The DCBA YLS eMentoring program matches sixty young lawyers each with a
Miami Senior High School legal magnet student (of the same gender) for
weekly email communication throughout the school year. The participants
also enjoy personal contact at group events and on field trips. The Miami
Senior High Legal Magnet Students and their mentor attorneys have
developed some very special relationships. One student has said "[m]y
Mentor is always encouraging me to apply for scholarships. I needed some
to be on my case like my mentor is. She is so helpful when it comes to
college information and law school. My mentor has become my very
resourceful friend. She is a great mentor!" Similarly, a satisfied mentor
described her experience as follows: "I have a great Mentee. He is eager
to learn about the law and is always interested in discussing current
events, as well as my current cases. I have been very satisfied with my
experience so far."

I hope to see more busy young professionals impact high school education
across the U.S. Our program has been duplicated in various cities by
lawyers and others. For a copy of our manual, please contact Justin
