Hi Mical,
I am new to list as well, but I wanted to make sure you and others knew
about Youth Venture. If your students want to start their own business or
organizations this summer, we may be able to help them out. Here is more
information about our program for you and others on this list.
Youth Venture is a national non-profit organization that empowers young
people (ages 12-20) by providing them all the tools necessary to create
civic-minded organizations, clubs or businesses. We provide access to a
variety of resources including: scholarships, awards, special conference
invites, a national network of like-minded young people, media
opportunities, technical allies and up to $1000 in seed capital needed to
launch their organizations. Our philosophy is that young people can and
should positively impact their communities through their actions. We
believe that youth inherently have the creativity and determination to
create genuine change within their communities. Our goal is to reach every
young person in the nation and provide them with the Youth Venture
opportunity.
Young people have launched basketball tournaments to raise money for AIDS,
created businesses to promote awareness about teen pregnancy, and launched
theater groups to educate about drugs and alcohol. Any idea that any young
person has to start something that makes a difference, we want to help them
make it happen. Young people find us through our diverse network of
partners, or just go online to www.youthventure.org and fill out an
application. If you are interested in learning how you can work with Youth
Venture as a Venturer, Partner, or Ally, please contact us at
info at youthventure.org, or 703-527-4126 and be sure to check out
http://www.youthventure.org to learn about us and the youth we support.
Please pass this information on to others who may either want to create
their own organization, or who currently work with youth. If everyone knew
about this incredible opportunity, imagine how the world would be a better
place.
Thanks!!
Scott Beale
