Hello All!

I wanted to update you on a new project we're working on, and to request
your help. With support from AOL Time Warner Foundation (AOLTW),
YouthLearn and the Center for Children and Technology (also here at
Education Development Center) are producing a report that explores how
youth media and technology programs are evaluating their efforts. We're
particularly interested in programs that have a civic engagement element
and that help young people develop 21st century skills (critical thinking,
communication, collaboration and creativity). Included in our report will
be a collection of research findings and sample evaluation tools.

Our objective is to explore the processes and tools that enable
organizations like yours to collect, analyze, and interpret information
that you then use to gauge impact and improve programs. For example, how
are you evaluating participant outcomes, staff efficacy, program
implementation, or community involvement? We're looking for
self-evaluation guides, data collections tools (such as surveys, interview
protocols, and portfolios), as well as any workshops or training
opportunities for staff, TA providers or advisors that have supported your
efforts in evaluation.

If you think your program has examples of useful tools and resources to
share, please email me at mbiswas at edc.org. Tell me a little about your program and the tools you've found to be
effective. I'll follow-up via email or phone, so please provide your full
contact information. We need to collect and review these tools in the
next couple of weeks, so I encourage you to contact us as soon as possible
so that we have the chance to include your materials in our report.

Thanks!

Monica
