Thank you, to all those who are responding to Leo's request for the
YouthLearn discussion list concerning where to find images of young people
making a difference in their local communities. Here is a digest of the
8 responses so far.
All the best-
Monica

You might want to try the Teen Empowerment Center in the South End of
Boston. 617-536-4266 I know they document many of their programs and would
probably be willing to help. The contact there is Stanley Pollack -
Good Luck

Hopefully you will recieve the information that you desire (FREE).
However, if not, then I suggest that you contact the closest major
newspaper in your area. Talk to someone in their metro section. Often
times, reporters do stories concerning youth and have pictures on file.
These high quality photos are void of copyright issues and redtape.
Finally, and I know you know this, investigate youth serving organizations
in your area to see if they will allow you to photgraph their work.
Hope this helps

Hello,
I have a couple of pictures. Our teens put on a movie for our seniors at
the Thanksgiving meal. It was also a womans birthday. I have a picture
that shows the teens giving the woman a present. A food pantry operates
out of the center and I also have a picture of the teens loading the car
with food for Thanksgiving. I also have a picture of teens receiving a
'Youth In Action' award for helping with the Thanksgiving baskets.
Now, we are not professional photographers and not that experienced with
our digital camera. Also, we would probably need image releases? Would
the photos be used exclusively in the workshop?
We are a rural Community Action in Western New York.

Hey Leo :: Good to hear from you again. I'd recommend getting in touch
with City Year <http://www.cityyear.org>, Youth Service America <http://www.ysa.org/>, the Corporation for National Service <http://www.nationalservice.org/>, and AmeriCorps http://www.americorps.org/>. I am sure their state directors have lots of file photos they'd love
to share as long as you'd be willing to provide attribution.
You might start with Chris Murphy at the Washington, DC office of City
Year, a fantastic, energetic group of young people.
