Good media resource on teen identity formation?

Hi,

I'm new to this list, and hoping folks can help: I'm creating a curriculum
unit on identity formation for our high school freshmen. I would like the
unit anchor to be an analysis of teen images and stereotypes that are
projected by various forms of media. The culminating project will consist
of students creating their own media about their true identity. Any
suggestions for good examples of both positive and negative youth media
images? documentaries on the topic? curriculum resources?

I am also interested in general resources around identity, being and
becoming American, and family history activities.

I promise to share the compiled resources with the list :)

Thanks for your help!

Valerie
