<p>Purpose
Is leadership an innate quality or is it developed over time? How can
adults inspire leadership in young women without negating their culture or
ethnic background? We will examine different forms of leadership
currently used in programs. We will start the discussion with the above
questions to help us identify "what is leadership" and "what tools do
girls currently have that we as adults can work with to produce leaders
today". We will examine how leadership is negotiated and what curricula
are available to help us better prepare girls to assume leadership roles
in the community. We will leave with a better understanding of how to
help girls get in touch with and exalt their own leadership.
Panel organizations to present and discuss these issues includes:
Youth Voice Collaborative, YWCA Boston
TASK (Teens Advocates Sharing Knowledge), Malden YWCA
Urban Leadership Program, Simmons College Master of Social Work Program
