Our organization, National Africa Foundation (NAF) is looking for
volunteers to travel to Ghana, West Africa next year summer (July or
August) for a two-week training in computer software and hardware (repairs
& troubleshooting) to some members of the National Association of Teachers
(GNAT). A total of twenty (20) people are needed- twelve (12) adults,
preferably teachers and eight (8) students, possibly high school juniors
or seniors who could get some credit on their return from their school.
This would have to be pre-arranged and approved by their school
authorities before departure.
As part of the preparation towards the trip, we are also looking for
somebody who is knowledgeable in grant writing to help us put some
applications together for possible funding. Alternatively, if anyone knows
of a foundation that might be interested in funding towards an
international project like ours, please let us know through this forum or
by sending email to nafric at lycos.com.
NAF was formed in May 2002 as an affiliate of the Virginia-based National
Heritage Foundation (NHF) to provide various forms of assistance to newly
arriving African immigrants in the U.S. in such areas as housing and
accommodation, health and medical insurance and education. In Africa, we
provide assistance in the form of training and counseling in the areas of
education and other development projects that are meant to improve living
conditions of people in the community.
If you think you have the requisite qualifications in computer training
and are willing to travel next summer, possibly in July or August, 2005
for two weeks to Ghana, send email to the Executive Director, NAF at
nafric at lycos.com for more information. Thank you for reading and for
responding!
