May 7th. We look forward to seeing you on May 7th.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SERIES
ETHNICITY, DIVERSITY, AND THE FACE OF THE FUTURE
Part One
of a two-part series on
IN CELEBRATION OF OUR GIRLS:
A FORUM AND A DIALOGUE
Friday, May 7, 8:00 a.m.- 12:00 NOON (Note change of date)
At FleetBoston, 100 Federal Street, 2nd floor conference room
Near Boston T stops for South Station and Downtown Crossing
Purpose
This forum will focus on empowering the adults who work with girls, to
enable them to work more effectively in their programs and organizations
and to better celebrate the girls in our communities. The program will
examine race, and how we use this lens to assess and honor girls and
programs for girls. The core of our discussion will be neither ethnicity
nor culture; our aim is not to find ways to dissect the discrimination of
every group.
This forum is designed to answer questions such as:
What is this thing called race?
How is it constructed?
How does it impact my work with girls and programs?
The Girls' Coalition strives to provide a safe space for fostering
communication and awareness, and to convene an active learning community
for enlightenment on issues that impact girls and girls' programs. This
event is designed to acilitate honest and open discussion about race and
thereby enable us to have a better understanding of the diversity of race,
which is ethnicity.
