(Organization Name) is proud to be an Outreach Partner for NetDay Speak Up
Day for Students. Mark your calendars now for this 2nd annual online event
where students across the country speak out about using technology and the
Internet. NetDay, a national non-profit organization, is launching a
revised survey this October with an exciting goal to collect input from
500,000 students on the issues that matter to them and to you.

Last year's Speak Up Day survey reached 210,000 K-12 students from 3,000
schools in all 50 states as well as Department of Defense Overseas
Schools. It was the largest collection of student ideas on education ever!
A national report of the data was shared with local, state, and national
decision makers including the Department of Education, the Department of
Commerce, and members of Congress. (See the report or look up your
school's data online at http://www.netday.org/speakupday2003_report.htm)

We are working with NetDay to make sure that every student has an
opportunity to be involved in this landmark collection of student voices
this year!

How will this year's data be used?
* This year's Speak Up Day data will be shared with
national, state, and local policymakers who make funding and program
decisions on technology use in schools. Your students' voices will
influence their decisions for years to come.
* The data will also be used to inform the implementation
of the new National Education Technology Plan. Speak Up Day data played a
significant role in the development of that plan and student voices can
play a significant role in how the plan is implemented.
* Schools that participate will have easy access to their
own students' aggregated data to use for planning and decision-making.

What does it take to participate?

It's so easy! To "Speak Up" a school only needs to register their
participation and then provide students with the school's "secret word"
for access to the survey site.
* The survey only takes 15 minutes.
* Students can complete the survey from any Internet
connected computer-either during class time, at school, or away from
school.
* The online survey will be available for review in advance
along with lesson plans and other helpful support materials.
* All information for participating schools and teachers is
online at http://www.netday.org <http://www.netday.org/>
* The survey will be open for student input from October 11
through October 29 to allow everyone time to participate.

Why should a school participate in Speak Up Day this year?

* Because your students have a unique opportunity to
influence big decision making.
* Because this year's Speak Up Day survey has been revised
and reviewed by NetDay's Student Advisory Council to represent the most
current issues and topics.
* And, because this year's survey includes an opportunity
for students to email the presidential candidates about the issues they
care about most, making it a timely way for students to share their ideas
with our future leaders.

We are looking forward to your participation! Please share this
information with anyone interested in students, technology, and education.
If you have any questions about Speak Up Day, you can email the NetDay
team directly at SpeakUpDay at NetDay.org

Thanks again for helping to reach students and learn their views about
technology and education
