Ms. Williams,

The City of Tallahassee has built five Learning / Resource Centers, with the
sixth to open in Nov.
It is our experience that the University and Community College service
learning programs are a great resource.
Our first center had one mentor per child, and the program is free.

Jane,

I am curious what kind of staff/volunteers you have lined up to run your
teen programs? We currently have one part time instructor meant to work
with youth from 6 - 18. I have been lobbying for them to be fulltime at
the very least, so interested in how other programs function.

Thanx,

Nelly,
Welcome to the YouthLearn "family". I have found this listserve to be a
great source of information & support.

Like you, I work for a YMCA & have been given the task of creating (from
scratch) teen programs. The nat'l Y office/website is also a great
source of info. I have 5 new teen programs starting this fall, including
Youth in Government, Teen Action Council and a new computer lab for
youth. My colleague is starting a Teen Achievers program. Resources
for all programs are found within the Y network. Good luck! Please feel
free to contact me if I can help you in any way. My e-mail (at work) is
jfinken at ymcaracine.org
