Stay tuned for a Request for Abstracts for the first Eastern Regional
Conference on After-School!

During the first week of January, keep posted for an e-mail with a detailed
call for presenters for the Eastern Regional Conference on After-School,
which will be May 10 and 11, 2005 in Towson, Maryland, just outside of
Baltimore.  The Request for Abstracts will center around five Conference
themes, including:

* Embedding Core Academic Content in Enrichment Activities
* Policy and Practices to Create Capacity, Partnerships, and Sustainability
* Integrating Youth Development Principles
* Merging Research and Practice to Improve Quality
* Showcasing Programs in the Region

Abstracts will be due by Friday, February 4, so start thinking now about
what to submit!  Additional conference details will be posted at
www.afterschoolinstitute.org in the coming weeks.

Conference sponsors include The After-School Institute (TASI); Associated
Black Charities; DC Children and Youth Investment Trust Corporation;
Maryland State Department of Education; and the National Partnership for
Quality Afterschool Learning (SEDL and SERVE).  Additional support is being
provided by the National School Boards Association, Philadelphia Safe and
Sound, United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania, and the University of
Pennsylvania School of Social Work.
