Hello, YouthLearn community-
As you may have already seen, the CTCNet Conference will be held in
Cleveland, OH, from June 17-19.
(Remember: the last day for Early Bird Registration is Thursday, May 26th.
TOMORROW!)
At this year's conference, YouthLearn is presenting a session entitled
Afterschool and Technology - Strategies to Advance Content-rich Learning
on Friday, June 17th, 10:30 to 12:00.
This year, we are so thrilled to be facilitating a session with a panel of
four field experts on their innovative use of technology in integrating
content into afterschool. The four experts are:
# Michael Funk (Sunset Neighborhood Beacon Center)
# Shannon Campe (Girls Creating Games)
# Bob Cabeza (Long Beach YMCA Youth Institute)
# Xavier Leonard (Heads on Fire)
These panelists are recognized as national leaders in this realm of
technology integration in academic contents. They shared their strategies
through our latest project, Afterschool & Technology, which can be found
here: http://www.youthlearn.org/afterschool/spotlight.htm. This session
will be a great chance for you to meet these experts face-to-face. In
addition to highlighting successful strategies and youth-made media
products, the panel will be engaging in discussion with participants on
solutions to common issues that arise in afterschool settings.
Tony Streit, and I, of the YouthLearn Initiative, will be there to provide
context and background on the issue of technology in afterschool, as well
as unveil the newest section, Afterschool & Technology, of our website
dedicated to this topic.
It will be a fun session, packed with opportunities to hear and discuss
exciting strategies to maximize learning for young people! We hope to see
you there!
