Dear SERVEnet User:
We know many of you are actively involved in Hurricane Katrina relief efforts. To assist you in your volunteer recruitment, we have set up specific categories for projects focused on this issue and ask that you register any projects your organization is undertaking to assist with hurricane relief under the new Katrina Relief category.
If you are an individual, please register with the "Volunteer Profile" section of SERVEnet in order to share your skills with organizations that need you.
On our end, Youth Service America has already created a special section of our website:
* To inspire action by young people, ages 5 to 25; and to motivate the media, we are collecting and disseminating stories of Hurricane Katrina relief efforts led by children and youth;
* To encourage young people to raise money, collect needed relief supplies, and implement projects, we are supplying them with planning toolkits and dozens of different tip sheets;
* To connect youth to legitimate recipients, we are publishing a diverse list of 40+ relief organizations;
* To encourage volunteers of all ages, we are encouraging Americans to create a "Volunteer Profile" and register up to 35 volunteer skills/interests on SERVEnet, the nation's largest volunteer database.
You can access this by visiting the "What's New?" section of SERVEnet.
As always, thank you for your hard work to make a difference.
