November 2005 is Celebrating Philanthropy Month

Build new knowledge and practical skills by joining us in person or on the
Web during our fifth annual Celebrating Philanthropy Month in November.
Throughout the month we enable you to hear grantmakers' perspectives on
the current state of philanthropy, network with new colleagues, explore
must-see resources, and gain insights into what's happening in your
funding community.

Here's what we have in store:

Educational Opportunities for Grantseekers: The following classes are
being offered at each library/learning center or on the Web.

New Free Class! How to Approach a Foundation: From Initial Contact to
Getting Funded: Our newest free class will be offered at each Foundation
Center library/learning center in November. This class teaches how to
initiate contact with potential funders, plan calls and meetings, and
build partnerships with donors.

Foundations and Their Role in Philanthropy: This class answers the most
frequently asked questions about foundations, with excellent background
information for anyone who is curious to learn what foundations are all
about.

New Online Training Course! Grantseeking Basics for Nonprofit
Organizations: Try our new online course ($39.95). Posted in the Virtual
Classroom at our Web site, this course is designed for anyone in the
nonprofit sector who wants to learn more at his or her own pace about
identifying and researching foundations as potential sources of funding.

Youth in Philanthropy is our fun and informative Web area designed to
engage philanthropy’s next generation in celebrating the work of the
sector.

Philanthropy News Digest posts new book reviews, Newsmakers Interviews,
and an entire special issue highlighting the personal favorite
philanthropy-related Web sites of leading experts and practitioners.

Nonprofit Organizations and Accountability, a new topical resource list in
our Learning Lab, highlights recent literature on the current debate
involving scholars, foundation and nonprofit leaders, and the U. S.
Congress on governance and transparency within the sector.
