Young people -- some 300,000 of whom visit the Bank's Web site each month
? are the focus of a new site aimed at students, teachers and young
professionals interested in development issues. Youthink! is a lively,
interactive and dynamic site that invites young people to explore the
research, knowledge and experience gathered by Bank experts on issues like
poverty, development and conflict. The site also offers opportunities to
share ideas, stories and photos, and has separate areas for younger kids
and teachers. There are discussion forums, suggestions on how to get
involved in development work, and a multimedia section with games, quizzes
and videos. The site will host regular chats with experts through the
Speak Out section. As part of the launch, the site is sponsoring a photo
essay contest in partnership with WorldLinks titled "Your Voice, Your
World." Contestants, aged 14 through 20, from around the world are being
encouraged to capture their world through images.
