Join with other tutoring and/or mentoring leaders in on-line forums. Learn
to learn and network in on-line communities. The ideas you use to improve
your organization could come from the other side of the world!
Below is a schedule of learning events, mostly on the Internet, that I
encourage you to participate in.
-----------------------------------------
Today and Tomorrow: Using Social Networking Applications in the Nonprofit
Community
TechSoup, is hosting a a free, two-day online event at:
http://www.techsoup.org/socialnetwork
This event will be an asynchronous discussion that will occur in the
TechSoup.org forums. It will be hosted by Chris Law, co-founder of
Tribe.net, Neal Gorenflo, Director of Business Development of
Care2Connect.com, Alex Mouldovan, founder of CrowdFactory.com and John
Lorance, Associate Director of CompuMentor¹s TechCommons program, and will
feature representatives from LinkedIn.com, Gather.com, and others.
The Tutor/Mentor Connection is an example of a social network and the
Tutor/Mentor Leadership Conference and on-line forums are part of our
efforts to draw people together and to encourage idea sharing and
collaboration. By participating in the Tech Soup forum I hope everyone
learns more reasons for participating in the other tutor/mentor forums
schedule in May and June.

One of the workshops during the May 17 eConference hosted by IUPUI will be a
panel of tutor/mentor leaders who attended the March 22 Donors Forum
meeting. They will talk of how this information impact their own
organization and what we as a community of organizations might do to
increase the flow of resources to all volunteer-based tutoring and/or
mentoring programs as part of a strategy to keep programs connected to youth
for more than a few months or years. If you lead a non profit and would
like to be part of this panel, email Dan Bassill at
tutormentor2 at earthlink.net. You don't need to be from Chicago.
