Education, Employment and Community Programs at Education Development Center (EDC) seeks an individual at the research associate I level to contribute to two projects; and to others as needed. The RA will report to the ITEST Project Director.
· ITEST (IT Experiences for Students and Teachers) Learning Resource Center (60% time)
Funded by the National Science Foundation, the Information Technology Experiences for Students and Teachers (ITEST) program is designed to increase the opportunities for students and teachers to learn about, experience, and use information technologies within the context of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The program supports both youth-based projects with strong emphases on career and educational paths, and comprehensive projects for students and teachers. The ITEST Resource Center assists funded projects in achieving their goals, engages in research related to these projects, provides collaborative and technical support activities, and has responsibility for national dissemination of project models, instructional materials, and promising practices. 
· Adobe Youth Voices: Participatory Evaluation (40% time)
Adobe Youth Voices is Adobe's global signature philanthropy program designed to provide youth in underserved communities with the critical skills they need to become active and engaged members of their communities and the world at large. With a focus on empowering youth, Adobe Youth Voices supports young people in and out of school and encourages the use of cutting edge multimedia tools to communicate and share their ideas, demonstrate their potential, and take action where they live. The AYV program will start this fall in 36 sites in six locations around the world, including the United States, India, and England. EDC is conducting the program evaluation, which incorporates mixed methods for data collection within a participatory evaluation framework and includes case studies of the six AYV locations. 

Summary of essential functions:
§ Work with ITEST research working groups to conduct collaborative, multi-site research
§ Develop surveys of teachers and youth around learning related to youth media and STEM programs
§ Conduct literature reviews
§ Clean datasets and develop codebooks
§ Conduct preliminary data analysis as requested
§ Conduct site visits and data collection for Adobe Youth Voices
§ Some travel for meetings, site visits and conferences
§ Participate in team meetings
§ Participate in materials development
§ Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications: 

Qualifications/Experience:
§ M.A. in education, public policy, statistics, or related field, along with at least two years of relevant research experience
§ Experience conducting research and/or evaluation in school/afterschool settings
§ Experience conducting online literature searches and producing syntheses
§ Experience with quantitative software
§ Experience using mixed methods in evaluation and/or research 
§ Very strong writing skills, with the ability to write for different audiences
§ Good presentation skills
§ Fluency in the use of information, communication, and data analysis technologies
§ Ability to work with diverse teams and across different educational content areas
§ Ability to work independently and as a part of a team

The Training & Technical Assistance Specialist II will work as a member of the Technical Assistance Team and will report to the Project Director. Specific responsibilities will include:
§ In collaboration with team, design and implement technical assistance/collaboration events and publications for ITEST project staff and for public audiences, including:
o Webcasts
o Conference calls
o Online dialogs
§ Act as a liaison to staff of a group of ITEST projects across the U.S., through activities including:
o Establishing and maintaining regular contact with assigned project staff via regularly scheduled conference calls, email exchanges, and as otherwise needed 
o Encouraging project staff to participate in TA/Collaboration events
o Gathering and recording information from assigned projects as needed
o Sharing information with LRC team in regular staff meetings and as otherwise appropriate (publications, research, suggestions for conference presenters, etc.)
§ Contribute to the planning and implementation of the annual ITEST Summit in Washington D.C. 
§ Assist in preparation of project reports and proposal development 
§ Work as a member of a strong, collaborative team 
Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications: 

Qualifications/Experience:
§ Bachelor's degree required
§ 3-5 years experience in designing and providing technical assistance using a variety of methods;
§ Experience in effective dissemination of materials; 
§ Excellent communication and organizational skills; 
§ Demonstrated ability managing complexity and prioritizing multiple tasks; 
§ Ability to work productively in highly collaborative settings while also able to function independently. 
§ Experience with computer applications and Internet research

This position is funded for one year; continued employment will be contingent upon funding.
