UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI 4-H CENTER VISTA LEADER


 

Are you seeking advancement in a communications, marketing, adult education, human resources, or nonprofit management career?  Is leadership of a national service program in your future?  

 

The University of Missouri 4-H Center for Youth Development is seeking an AmeriCorps*VISTA Leader for 2007-08.  

 

Extension Youth Enterprisers (or EYE) is a statewide AmeriCorps*VISTA program midway into year one.  The program and the VISTA Leader position are based on the campus of the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri.

 

EYE VISTA members work with entrepreneurial communities through the University's cooperative extension system to expand youth entrepreneurship.  Members bring skills in education, mentoring, financing, or networking to homegrown programs.

 

The VISTA Leader will provide leadership for the recruitment, training, and support of up to 24 VISTA members serving with the program.  The selected candidate can anticipate:

 

*	developing and managing a statewide member recruitment campaign. 
*	coordinating in-service training and professional development experiences. 
*	networking and building partnerships with other AmeriCorps programs. 
*	organizing field trips, member exchanges, and adopt-a-member mentoring. 
*	an assignment customized to the Leader's personal and professional goals.

Strong candidates will have a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications, journalism, adult education, sociology or a related field.  Commensurate life experience will be considered for outstanding applicants.

 

The position may start as early as Feb. 3, 2007, or as soon as a candidate is finalized.  The person will participate in national VISTA Leader training and will be eligible for the VISTA Leader living allowance of approx. $12,396, benefits, and education award or cash stipend.   Candidates must have a valid driver's license and be accessible for travel statewide.  Candidates must also be able to commit to full-time service for at least one year without part-time employment or more than one college course.
