  Dear Lars,

I enjoyed the guide adn I think it is a wonderful idea for discussion. However, I have a need that I'm not sure the guide addresses. I have an elementary age after school program here in the U.S. where children have heard of AIDS but are nto mature enough for the explicitness of some of the tiles. They need additional tiles that will ease them into the reality of those used. Please don't misunderstand me. i don't want you to change what you have. i just want some a little less direct to prepare these kids for the real situation. I have parents who are in denial about the possibility of their little baby being exposed to the virus. Hence, the kids think this is something that happens to older people.

  Keep up the good work.

  Dear colleagues,

I wanted to share with you a draft discussion guide that I have put together in advance of World AIDS Day 2007. I hope it can be a valuable classroom and youth group catalyst for engaging conversations around various aspects of the HIV/AIDS pandemic. All of the tile images used in the "discussion cards" have been created by young people around the world in a range of settings. Many of the contributors are ActALIVE members, and I'd be particularly interested to hear from you what you think about the questions and resources associated with each tile.

You can download the guide here:

Thanks so much, and I look forward to getting this patched up for a Fall release. A huge congratulations to all the young people who created such evocative, insightful images. I hope this guide honors their contribution to the global effort to reduce the spread and effects of AIDS.
