DESCRIPTION - Education Development Center (EDC) is one of the world¹s

EDC¹s YouthLearn Initiative (http://www.youthlearn.org) in the Education,
Employment & Community Division has an opening for a Project Assistant,
reporting to the Senior Project Director in Chicago, Illinois.  The Project
Assistant will work as part of a dynamic team collaborating on a range of
projects that assist educators in the application of technology integration,
youth media making and project-based learning. Project tasks will likely
include research into promising practices, development of training resources
and materials, and technical assistance and consultation on program design.
The YouthLearn Initiative seeks a creative, motivated and talented
individual who excels at multi-tasking and who is eager to contribute to our
on-going success.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - All staff are expected to communicate clearly and
courteously; to develop and maintain positive relationships with clients,
consultants, collaborators, co-workers, field sites, and funders; and to
work respectfully with EDC colleagues. All jobs require adherence to EDC
policies & procedures.
 
Under close supervision, the Project Assistant provides support to project
staff, including:
 
* Researching & compiling information
* Drafting, proofreading, or translating materials
* Documenting & cataloguing
* Maintaining records
* Disseminating information
* Assisting with procurement and general project management
* Working on new development tasks as assigned
* Helping with outreach and communication
 
The Project Assistant also:
 
* Assists with project activities
* Engages in teamwork; accepts and utilizes feedback
* Assists with logistical support
* May travel 
 
QUALIFICATIONS - All jobs require educational achievement; excellent writing
skills; demonstrable initiative, creativity, and flexibility; ability to
work independently and effectively in groups; strong interpersonal &
organizational skills. This position requires:
 
* Bachelor¹s degree or equivalent combination of education & experience
* 0­2 years related research, education, international development or
administrative coordination experience, requiring computer competence
* Organizational & analytical skills and aptitude for details
* Familiarity with youth development, community technology and youth media
